Why is daily early reading important, starting from birth? Early reading helps develop children’s language and cognitive skills. Even the tactile experience of holding or touching a book supports babies’ cognitive development.
Research has found that
young children who are read to daily have been exposed to about 300,000 more words by the time they enter kindergarten than kids who aren’t read to regularly.
unless children are reading at grade level when they enter kindergarten they will lag further behind and never catch up.
